I'll be attending... will you?
5th-Oct-2009 02:04 pm - Travelling with Beer
LiveJournalLand,

Does anyone out there have any experience traveling with pressurized liquid in their checked luggage? I'm thinking of bringing a growler of great local beer to share with friends at Midwest Fur Fest, but I'm not so sure if it will stay sealed.

From what I understand, it's perfectly legal to carry it in checked luggage, and but the rise in air pressure is more my concern.

Thoughts?

I'm breaking the rules and not copy/pasting the text like a robot. So, there.

For some of you, I don't need to explain this... but for the rest of you. Ratchet & Clank is my favorite series of video games. I could play them forever. Almost all of their elements appeal to me in just the right ways. The games fit me like a glove.

This is a teaser background for the next game in the series (A Crack In Time) which releases on October 27. It'll be the seventh game made by Insomniac in this franchise since 2002 (not including the two for PSP made by High Impact Games). Some call it over-saturation, I call it heaven.

Vista 10.6 Snow Leopard.

I'll put up a screenshot from my gaming PC later. Oodles of icons on that desktop.

8th-Sep-2009 02:00 am - Audial sex
Today, I am a VERY happy guy. Tonight has been the first time I have experienced true bliss, musically, in years.

You see, some of you may remember a video I embedded a while back... a live performance of a superb remix Infected Mushroom did of Bust A Move, a track from Classical Mushroom (their second album).

The track as it was, originally, was superb. Although, I fell in love with the remix because it enhanced the previously weak sections of the track (and added new ones that only made it better, all without losing the original elements of the track that made it great... a place that a lot of "remixes" fail). Bust A Move is about as close as you're going to get to a concerto in electronic music.

Today, by overwhelming demand from the fans... Infected released this remix on iTunes (and only on iTunes) as a bonus track for their new (mediocre) album. If I made a newspaper today's headline would be HOLY FUCK in huge letters.

If you have iTunes, take a look here: itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum

This remix is having sex with my ears. Over and over.

P.S.

It's iTunes Plus, so if you buy it it'll play on anything (no DRM).
3rd-Sep-2009 05:58 pm - Media player wanted!
Might as well throw this out there...

Looking to see if anyone has a large screen media player they don't want anymore.

Zune, iPod Touch, Archos... whatever. Tell me if you've got something.

What I'm not looking for is anything with a smaller screen than that. It needs to play video.
30th-Aug-2009 03:12 am - 10.6 Snow Leopard
Install in a nutshell:

Upgrade: Hell no. Did this first. All of the Leopard issues for me remained. And Apple doesn't give you the option to not upgrade anymore in this version of the Installer. It just assumes that you want to upgrade, and that's that. Thanks, guys.

Format and Install: Did this second. You can just take your data off the drive and format it using Disk Utility on the OS disc. Now it runs like a dream.

Archive and Install: The way I used to handle Apple OS upgrades is gone. Thanks, Apple. And don't tell me that installing 10.6 on top of an existing 10.6 install uses this method, that's complete crap.

It's done, it's installed, and it wasn't as much of a pain in the ass as it sounds. I've had a LOT MORE TROUBLE with Windows installations, believe you me.

Snow Leopard purrs quite sweetly.
29th-Aug-2009 01:58 am - Bolt awesomeness!
Watching the special features of Bolt for the first time, on a whim...

I never even NOTICED this while watching the movie (and I saw it twice in theatres) but most of the scenes involve 3D characters (and sometimes buildings and parts of landscape) against 2D paintings (though a lot less noticeable than matte paintings against real-world composites). The depth of field is so realistic that it's insane, and that's a VERY subtle way to do it.

Man, I like the movie a lot more after noticing that.

P.S.

Sorry for the cinematography dorkery!
26th-Aug-2009 01:27 am - New icon!
I decided to make it in an attempt to cheer myself up.

Anyone know what it is?

No, it doesn't have anything to do with politics. I'll be impressed if anyone actually does know what it's for. :) Pretty obscure these days.
